About the JerusaLAND Trek An intimate introduction to the land, through a "pilgrim like" walk to Jerusalem. It is a unique 3 days / 2 nights trek (about 60 km), from Tel Azeka on the Judean Hills' slopes till Jerusalem - a moderate hike through fascinating Biblical landscapes.
Our professional and intimate guidance about the land, its nature and its history, is complemented by additional passionate experts who join us on the way to elaborate about Jewish wisdom with a Talmud lesson or to accompany us with their guitar on an evening around the campfire. Wednesday / DAY 1
Pick-up from your hotel (optional TLV or JLM). Our walk begins at Tel Azeka, known as the location of the Biblical duel between David and Goliath. From Tel Azeka proceed to Kiaffa ruins, a unique archeological site from King David's era where an ancient Hebrew writings was revealed. Our trek goes through a Kibbutz, along the Caesar Road, a Roman paved way, visit an old wine and olive press, discover the remains of a Byzantine Church with its beautiful mosaic, come across tiny fresh water spring spots and enjoy some great outdoor meals. By late afternoon we'll reach the campsite at Ness Harim where we stop for the night.
Thursday / DAY 2 From Ness Harim to the Water Springs Way, nearby Jerusalem. During the day we shall walk through Ein Kobi, Refaim valley, up to Ein Se'adim and along the Water Springs Way. For some of you, the highlight of the day might be the revelation of Jewish wisdom in a Talmud lesson while others may be touched when we sit together around the fire accompanied by a guitar. Overnight camp at Ein Se'adim.
Friday / DAY 3 On our third & last day of the journey we shall enter Jerusalem as did pilgrims of various of origins and religions in ancient times. Our trail will lead us through the village of Ein Karem, where we will relate to the birth of Christianity. On Mount Herzel we will discuss Israel's national symbols of Holocaust and Rebirth. We will proceed with our walk along the Knesset (Israel's Parliament), the Israel Museum & Shrine of the Book, The Hebrew University, then via some residential neighborhoods until the very moment when the Old City is revealed. Our journey to Jerusalem ends by the walls of the Old City, with a superb view of its mosques, churches and synagogues. It's late afternoon... time to part and head your own way with memories of an unforgettable experience. |
