Things to Do & See in South Israel - Negev Desert | |||||||||||
About the Negev Desert The Negev Desert, in southern Israel, accounts for over half of Israel’s land area. Though it is sparsely populated, the Negev has seen its share of history. Ben Gurion, Israel's first prime minister, had a vision about the Negev & today tourism in the desert is a developing industry. It offers charming nature corners, historical and archeological sites, fresh water springs, remains of agricultural compounds & encounters with the Bedouins - habitants of this desert. The little town of Mitzpe Ramon situated on the rim of the Ramon Crater is a perfect "gateway" to the Negev Desert.
